The Claims Administrator for the Deepwater Horizon Economic Settlement released public statistics on October 29, 2012. These statistics are for the new class action settlement program for economic and property damages. The program began issuing payments on July 31, 2012, and has been issuing outcome notices since July 15, 2012.
Claimants have submitted 30,318 registration forms thus far, representing 37% of the overall claims nationwide. There have been 28,753 Florida based claims as well. Individual Economic Loss Claims and Business Economic Loss claims comprise 54% of all claims nationwide.
Of the 10,899 Individual Economic Loss claims, only one case has been denied on causation grounds. To date, $831,924,181 eligibility notices have been issued from the claims program with an offer of payment.
